Crowdfunder Live was our first foray into live broadcasting, bringing together social enterprise and social media to create a world first.
Crowdfunder, the UK’s leading rewards-based platform, commissioned us to produce a live crowdfunding event, the first of its kind in the industry.
Using food as its central theme, we invited three innovative foodie start-ups to join the 15-man production team on our set at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
The idea was simple: the team with the most pledges at the end of the hour-long event, won.
We procured Steven Lamb from River Cottage to front it, and dispatched him down the venue’s famous zip wire to launch the event.
We also pulled together a panel of expert guests including Eden Project founder Sir Tim Smit, Matthew Thomson of the Cornwall Food Foundation and River Cottage head chef Gill Meller.
Meanwhile our production team spent the day at the unique venue, pre-recording interviews with the project teams and Crowdfunder coaches before going live at 7.30pm.
Snact, Atlantic Seaweed and the Cornish Ketchup Co. began building backers when they arrived at lunchtime, leveraging support from their social media followings. Using Thunderclap we reached 1.9 million people, drawing hundreds to watch the online broadcast.
